1- Annie, this financial time has been difficult for many singles what are some practical steps you've had to take during this season?
Our group of single friends actually started pooling food and funds and eating dinner together one night a week- Sundays. We call it "family dinner". It's a great way to eat for cheap and still hang out with your friends. I'm also just having to be smarter with my money- checking books out of the library instead of buying them, mixing and matching my clothes so the outfits "feel" new :), borrowing movies from friends instead of going to see them or renting them. I guess I'm just being more cognizant of how our community can provide for each other instead of going out and getting whatever I want by myself.
2-How have you seen God moving and working in your life during this season regarding finances?
It's still a trust issue. It always is, no matter how the economy is doing. But in these times, especially when I am at the beginning of a career in writing that doesn't provide much as is, I just have to be smart and really weigh out my "wants" and my "needs". God has NEVER let me down; He says in the Word that HE is our provider and our portion. I just keep depending on that, asking for wisdom with my purchases, and believing that there is no reason to worry.
Also-we're talking about Gardening this month and spring- so can we do a few fun questions.
If you could only plant one vegetable-which one would you plant and why?
Zucchini, because I am pretty sure I could eat it every day- grilled, sautéed, raw. Also, Zucchini Bread is one of my favorite sweet treats, so it would be very versatile as well (though that takes a perfectly healthy veggie and makes it a sugary carby dessert, but whatever). :)
If had to live the rest of your life with one gardening tool which one would it be?
I'm not a great gardener, but can I say a watering can? Just because I think they are really cute. And I have found that when I forget to water anything I am attempting to grow, it actually dies (shocking, I know). So water is fairly important.
If you could only have one season for the rest of your life which one would you live in?
Fall. Which is totally the wrong answer since its spring and all- is this like bringing Mary Kay to an Avon party? I hope not! I just love watching football, wearing fleece jackets, and the color of the leaves. And summer is JUST SO HOT that fall is a much needed relief.
If you could pick any actor to be your landscaper who one would you pick?
Ohh.... boy... I would have to pick Jack Black. I think he would do an utterly terrible job, but I would so enjoy hanging out with him that it would be alright. And surely he could just throw some flowers in the ground, water a bush or two and mow the grass. It's still more than I'm willing to do in the yard.
